Secondary bleeding into a subacute carotid wall hematoma.

چکیده
A 50-year-old woman presented with left-sided Horner syndrome that had occurred after an extensive scuba dive 10 days before. Ultrasound of the cervical arteries showed a homogeneous, moderately echolucent, excentric thickening of the left internal carotid artery wall (the Figure, A), findings that were strongly suggestive of a several-dayold intramural carotid hematoma associated with carotid artery dissection. The carotid lumen was completely occluded. The patient was treated with intravenous heparin (activated partial thromboplastin time, 60 to 80 seconds) to

Subacute Arterial Bleeding After Simultaneous Mastopexy and Breast Augmentation with Implants
Breast augmentation with implants is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures. The goal of the operation is to increase the size, shape or fullness of the breast. It is accomplished by placing silicone, saline or alternative composite breast implants under the chest muscles, fascia or the mammary gland. This type of operation is no exception concerning the occurrence of com...
متن کاملAge determination of vessel wall hematoma in spontaneous cervical artery dissection: A multi-sequence 3T Cardiovascular Magnetic resonance study
BACKGROUND Previously proposed classifications for carotid plaque and cerebral parenchymal hemorrhages are used to estimate the age of hematoma according to its signal intensities on T1w and T2w MR images. Using these classifications, we systematically investigated the value of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in determining the age of vessel wall hematoma (VWH) in patients with spontane...
متن کاملLateral abdominal wall hematoma as a rare complication after carotid artery stenting: a case report
Abdominal wall hematoma is a rare and life-threatening complication after carotid artery stenting (CAS), but it can occur when activated clotting time is prolonged. We report a right lateral abdominal wall hematoma caused by rupture of the superficial circumflex iliac artery after CAS in a 72-year-old man with severe stenosis of the origin of the right internal carotid artery. We performed CAS ...
متن کاملAn unusual complication of carotid stenting: spontaneous rectus sheath hematoma and its endovascular management.
Carotid stenting has recently emerged as a potential alternative to surgical treatment. We report a case of a spontaneous rectus sheath hematoma in a patient who underwent anticoagulation therapy following carotid stenting. Computed tomography findings were consistent with active bleeding within the hematoma, and this was confirmed with selective angiography via right deep circumflex iliac arte...
متن کاملMassive, Spontaneous Facial Hematoma in a Neurofibromatosis Type 1 Patient
Significant hemorrhage in Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF-1) patients occurs infrequently, but has potentially devastateing consequences when occurring in the head and neck region. There have been no prior reports of patients with hemodynamically significant, rapidly-expanding lesions into a neurofibroma in the head and neck region without preceding trauma. This case describes the management of a ...
